Privacy Policy

Lusson LLC (“Mealbird,” “we,” “us”) runs the mealbird.app website and the Mealbird iOS app. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. The short version: the app collects the answers you give it so it can build your meal plan, we never ask for your name or email to use it, and we don’t sell your data or use it for advertising.
1. What the app collects
You do not create an account. There is no sign-up form, no password and no email address in the app. The first time you open Mealbird it creates an anonymous account for you, identified only by a random ID. That ID is what your plans and answers are stored against, so they survive reinstalling the app.
Your answers to the quiz. To calculate protein and calorie targets and build a plan you can actually eat, the app asks for and stores: your sex, age, height, weight, activity level and goal; your diet, allergies, ingredients you love and ingredients you never want to see; the equipment in your kitchen; how many people you’re feeding; your weekly grocery budget; and the day you shop. Some of this is health and fitness information. We use it to build your plan and for nothing else.
Your plans and what you do with them. The weeks we generate for you, the items you tick off your shopping list, the items you add yourself, meals you mark as eaten out, and any swaps you request.
Your subscription status. Whether you have an active subscription, so the app knows what to unlock. Apple processes the payment; we never see your card details.
What the app does not collect. No contacts, no photos, no location, no advertising identifier, no health data from Apple Health. Nothing in the app tracks you across other companies’ apps or websites.
2. What the website collects
Your email address, if you join the waitlist. Along with it we record the time you signed up, the browser user-agent your device sends, and the country your request appears to come from (derived from your IP address by our host). We don’t store your full IP address with your signup.
Aggregate analytics. We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand traffic — things like page views and referrers — in aggregate. It is privacy-friendly and does not use cookies to track you across sites or build an advertising profile. We don’t use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies on this site.
3. How we use it
- to calculate your targets and generate, check and price the meal plans you ask for;
- to show you your own plans again on a new device or after a reinstall;
- to know whether your subscription is active, and to restore it when you ask;
- to send the local notifications you allow, such as “your plan is ready”;
- to send you waitlist email, if you signed up for it on the website;
- to keep the Service secure and prevent abuse;
- to comply with the law when we’re required to.
We do not sell your personal information, we do not share it for advertising, and we do not use it to train anyone’s models.
4. Who we share it with
We share data only with the service providers that make the Service work, and only as needed:
- Supabase — the database and anonymous authentication behind the app. Your quiz answers and generated plans are stored here.
- Fly.io — runs the server that builds and checks your plan.
- Anthropic — the model that proposes the dishes. Your plan constraints (targets, diet, allergies, exclusions, budget, household size, equipment) are sent so it can propose meals that fit. Your random account ID is not sent with them, and Anthropic does not use API content to train its models.
- OpenAI — generates the dish photographs from a recipe name and its ingredient list. No information about you is sent.
- Superwall — presents the subscription offer and tells the app whether your subscription is active. It receives your random account ID and the plan figures the offer screen can display, such as your protein target.
- Apple — processes every purchase and renewal, under Apple’s own privacy policy.
- Vercel and Upstash — hosting, analytics and the waitlist database for the website.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect our rights, our users, or the public.
5. How long we keep it
Your profile and plans are kept while your anonymous account exists, so that the app can show you your own weeks. “Reset app and start over,” in Settings and on the locked screen, abandons that account and starts a fresh one on your device. To have the underlying records deleted from our servers, email us and we’ll do it.
We keep your waitlist email until the launch is complete or until you ask us to remove it, whichever comes first — and then only as long as needed for our legitimate business or legal purposes.
6. Your choices and rights
In the app you can change any answer at any time, exclude ingredients you don’t want, decline notifications, and reset the app to a fresh anonymous account. You can unsubscribe from waitlist emails using the link in any message. To access, correct, or delete the information we hold about you, email info@mealbird.app and we’ll take care of it — tell us roughly when you started using the app so we can find the right anonymous account. Depending on where you live (for example, the EU/UK or California), you may have additional rights over your personal data; we honor those rights and won’t discriminate against you for exercising them.
7. Not medical advice
Mealbird is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. The targets it calculates are general nutrition estimates. Talk to a doctor or a registered dietitian before making changes to your diet, especially if you have a medical condition.
8. Children
The Service isn’t directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us their information, contact us and we’ll delete it.
9. Security
We use reputable providers and reasonable measures to protect your information in transit and at rest. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security — but we work to keep the little we collect safe.
10. Where your data is stored
Mealbird is operated from the United States, and your information is processed and stored in the United States. If you use the Service from another country, you understand your data will be handled under U.S. law.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, do more to let you know. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated policy.
